PDFC - About Us

Founded in 1950, the Peninsula Dog Fanciers Club, Inc. (PDFC) is one of the oldest, continuously active AKC all-breed dog clubs in the country.  PDFC became an AKC member club in 1998 and sent our first delegate, Joanne Duncan (who currently serves in this capacity to represent the interests of Kitsap County) to AKC delegate meetings.  We are dedicated to promoting the interests of all purebred dogs and their activities within Kitsap County and nationwide.
 
Founding members of the Peninsula Dog Fanciers Club were:
Clarence Nelson, Walter Miller, Mrs. Bettie Nelson, Mrs. Dolly Longworth, Arthur Longworth, Idelle Sullens, Louise Sanderlin, Rex McIlraith, Mae Leonard, Evean Maxwell Jr., George Leonard, Edwin Fry, Sofie Hoff, Ruth Cooksey, Ruby Fry, Julie Cook, Willmer Shelton, Marjorie McIlraith, Helen Miller, Ruth Ross Hall, Merle Dahlquist, Edith Miller and Mrs. H Cramarty.

Since its inception, the PDFC has been involved in sponsoring many purebred dog events, educational clinics and seminars; funding local, dog-related community projects; and hosting fun, dog-related activities.  Check out our EVENTS and MEMBERSHIP pages to learn more about our club and how to join!

PDFC Club Objectives:

To further the advancement and knowledge of all breeds of purebred dogs.
To do all in its power to protect and advance the interest of all breeds of purebred dogs and to encourage sportsman-like competition at dog shows and trials.
To conduct sanctioned matches, dog shows and trials under the rules of the American Kennel Club.
To provide education and support to the community and its agencies, and to the dog fancy in general; through donations, seminars, clinics, workshops, classes, volunteer services.
To offer social activities within the membership of the Club.
